Kompresor Angin - The government finds circulating electrical equipment that is not in
accordance with Indonesian National Standard (SNI) in the market. In fact, the implementation of SNI is done to protect consumers.
Based on the supervision and testing of the Ministry of Trade last year, from 57 units of sample goods in the electricity sector supervised and tested only 38 units of goods in accordance with SNI. Meanwhile, the remaining 19 units do not fit the SNI.
The tested goods consist of seven types of plugs, socket-outlets, switches, power cables, alternating current circuit breakers (MCBs), fans, and swabalast lamps.
Head of Sub Directorate of Metal, Machinery and Electronic Inspection Directorate of Supervision of Goods Circulated and Ministry of Trade Services Ngadiono revealed, it continues to supervise all goods on the market.
"If it is not in accordance with the provisions, say not in accordance with the SNI that can be seen from the licensing, we call the shop, all the things we watch," said Ngadiono while attending Coffee Morning Socialization of Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation No. 2 of 2018 at the office of the Directorate General of Electricity, Monday / 1).
Ngadiono said, the difficulty to suppress the circulation of goods not in accordance with the SNI comes from most goods sold in retail stores derived from purchases broken. The location of the territory which is on the border with other countries also facilitate the distribution of goods not in accordance with SNI.
In addition, the Ministry of Trade was limited, which is only 70 people to oversee all of Indonesia. Therefore, in the supervision, it cooperates with the police.
Chairman of the Association of Electrical and Mechanical Contractors (AKLI) Soewarto revealed, the circulation of electrical appliances not in accordance SNI one of them caused by the price is relatively cheaper than the standard equipment.
"As an illustration, for example, the power cord, the price difference can be 20 to 30 percent (between SNI and non-SNI power lines) .If it is not SNI, there can be counterfeit sizes and consumers," he said in the same place.
Therefore, Soewarto hopes that efforts to eradicate goods not in accordance with SNI are continuously conducted for the safety and security of consumers. In addition, manufacturers of goods that have met the requirements are also not harmed by unfair competition.

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) recently has also simplified the rules regarding the compulsory Indonesian National Standard (SNI) in the field of electricity by issuing Regulation of Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources No. 2 of 2018.
The beleid revokes and incorporates ten old ESDM candies and one related mandatory Ministerial Decree for Luminaires, MCBs, Switches, Fans, Contact Tippers and Contact Boxes, Electronic Ballasts, and Circuit Break Circuit Breakers (RCCB). This step is in line with the spirit of government deregulation and the implementation of the XV Economic Policy Package that focuses on Business Development and Competitiveness of National Logistics Providers.
In addition, this beleid also clarifies the classification of electric power equipment products so that it is easier to supervise through the addition of Ex code on the Harmonized System (HS) electrical equipment classification code (HS).
